Henri Nouwen, a famous Catholic priest, coined the phrase, “wounded healer” as a theological perspective to bring us hope. None of us can escape suffering, and yet our wounds have the power to bring about healing for us and others.

We begin our Lenten worship series by examining how we view disability. Do we pity those who are disabled? Do we see disability only as loss and misfortune? Can we see disability as a beautiful part of God’s creation?

This week in worship we will have a delightful service featuring several special music pieces. The songs all speak to finding comfort during the depths of winter and the peace that God offers us.

God made each of us in God’s image. Still, each of us are vastly different from each other. This teaches us that God values diversity and differences, and that they are sacred!

How can a loving God allow such hardship and pain to happen in the world? This is a powerful question that we cannot ignore as people of faith. Even when we’re not facing severe suffering, we often have questions about God’s intentions and plans for us and our lives.

How does prayer work? Does it work? Why do we pray for God to act when so often God doesn't act the way we had hoped?

This week all ages focus on the theme of questioning. God welcomes and encourages our questions as part of our faith journeys. We’ll hear the story of the church of Thessalonica and how it grew and was vibrant, all while they had a lot of questions.

Where is God in the midst of suffering? To be human is to know pain and suffering at some point in our lives. Scripture is full of faithful people who suffered and struggled, some of the very best suffer the very most. Join us as we wrestle with these realities together and look for God’s presence in the midst of this.

Celebrate Christmas Eve with us! Our service is filled with hope, joy, love and peace. Hear the timeless story of Jesus born into a weary world, offering all of us a new way to live. Our world may still be weary, but it doesn’t need to keep us from shining a light in the world.

What if kids showed up to perform a traditional Christmas Pageant…in their Halloween costumes?! That’s what happens in this contemporary spin on a traditional nativity play. It’s up to the children to improvise their way through the story of Jesus’ birth in a hilarious and heartfelt way that connects biblical figures with modern day superheroes, villains, and more. In the end, everyone learns that perhaps being a little bit “mixed-up” is something we can all rejoice in. Our young people have been practicing this pageant for the past four weeks—enjoy this unique retelling of our well-loved Christmas story. It’s bound to bring joy and light to your life!
