2026 Operating Budget Estimate of Giving
We aim to honor God through the resources that have been entrusted to us. In all we do, we strive to grow in our generosity of heart, mind and spirit. Giving a portion of our income and resources is one of the ways that we demonstrate our gratitude to God and our generosity to others. Online giving is a safe and secure way to support the ministries of the local church.
As a church, we believe that we are called to respond to the generosity of God by giving generously to our community and the world. Biblical generosity is not about meeting budget needs. It is about a rich and trusting relationship with a living God. We express our faith and love of God and neighbor by giving beyond ourselves.
Proportional Giving is an intentional way to support the church by giving a percentage of your income rather than a fixed dollar amount. This approach helps us give with purpose and grow in generosity over time.
If you’re new to giving, here’s a suggested starting point:

Naming Excelsior United Methodist Church as a beneficiary of your tax-deferred retirement plan is a flexible and meaningful way to support EUMC.
Distributions to individuals from these plans are subject to income tax. However these assets are not taxed when given to a charitable organization like the church, making this a smart giving strategy. It also allows you to maintain control over the assets during your lifetime and gives you the flexibility to modify your gift at any time.
To name Excelsior United Methodist as a beneficiary: Contact your plan administrator to update your beneficiary forms to designate a percentage of your retirement account to EUMC:

There are several ways to make a meaningful gift to Excelsior United Methodist Church while also maximizing potential tax benefits.
Gifts of Appreciated Stock
When you donate appreciated stock directly to the church, you can generally avoid paying capital gains tax on the increase in value. At the same time, you may be eligible to claim a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of your gift.
This allows your contribution to have a greater impact—both for you and for the church—than if you sold the stock first and then donated the proceeds.
Gifts from Your IRA (Qualified Charitable Distributions)
If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to the church. This type of gift can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while potentially reducing your taxable income.
Getting Started
To initiate a stock or IRA transfer, please contact the church office (
