Systemic Disability

As we continue to challenge ourselves to consider different views and perspectives as they relate to disability, this week we’ll look at the cultural barriers that block disabled people from accessing community. We’ll look at the story of a paralyzed man trying to get to Jesus, only to be blocked by throngs of able-bodied people. Four friends keep at it, removing the roof of Jesus’ home so they can lower him down. In what ways do we make life harder for those who are disabled? What barriers exist and how can we work to remove them?
