Borrowed Grief

Series: November 2024

November 03, 2024 | Rev. Brooke Heerwald Steiner

We remember by name those who died in the past year and light candles for those we have lost throughout our lifetimes. Death and grief are not subjects easy to talk about, and yet they impact every single one of us. Together as a nurturing community, we will share our grief and hear the promises God offers us amid our tears. In Revelation, God talks about a new earth where God comes to be with us. As we face our own grief or the borrowed grief of those around us, we pray and hope for the presence of God to be real for every one of us.

Series Information

There is so much that can worry us—we worry about our kids, we worry about our jobs, we worry about finances, we worry about health. We worry about global conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, and Palestine, we worry about our national politics, we worry about climate change and homelessness and child poverty. In scripture, we hear Jesus’ words to his disciples, “do not worry.” So much easier said than done!
