Christian: Noun or Verb? Guest speaker Bill Lester shares how that shapes the way he tries to live his faith. We hear Matthew tell the story of Jesus walking across the water to the disciples as they are fishing.
This Sunday, we look at Paul’s letter to the Romans where he gives them a long list of what he hopes they will do in their faith and life. Together, I hope we will ask ourselves the questions, what does it mean to be a Christian? What kind of Christian does our world need at this time and place? How can we each authentically live into our faith in concrete ways? In the upcoming weeks, you’ll have the pleasure of hearing these questions, and others, reflected on by some of our congregation members.
Evangelism. The “E-word”. It may as well stand for “Ew”. But what is evangelism, really? At its heart?
This Sunday we continue our Foundations of Our Faith journey. Call: What's it all about? What's God got to do with it?
Why belong to a faith community? For thousands of years, people have gathered in formal settings and buildings and homes to worship their God and be in community with one another.
We explore the meaning of baptism and why it is so foundational to our faith and read the story of Jesus being baptized and named by God as beloved. Together as a faith community, we will also share in the remembrance of baptism. We have our new baptismal bowl, hand blown glass by a local artist. All who wish to do so will be invited to come forward for a blessing from the new baptismal bowl. I hope to see you in church, online or in person!
This week, we will not only participate in Holy Communion together, but explore the meaning and theology behind this long-held tradition of ours. What happens during communion?
We will anticipate Pride Month as we celebrate the changes made at General Conference to live into a more inclusive way of being United Methodist. We’ll hear the familiar words from 1 Corinthians, “love is patient, love is kind.”
This week we will mark Pentecost Sunday by hearing again this miraculous and strange story of how people were able to hear and speak in different languages, each understanding one another.
This week is a family interactive service. There is a drama, great music by all ages, active prayers, and a short message.
