Beyond Words

Series: May 2024

May 19, 2024 | Rev. Brooke Heerwald Steiner

We mark Pentecost Sunday by hearing again this miraculous and strange story of how people were able to hear and speak in different languages, each understanding one another. The meaning behind this story can be difficult to parse out (pun intended!) and yet is a major occurrence for the early Christian church. Sometimes, we have experiences that are hard to explain—encounters with the holy that seem odd to those outside it, but incredibly profound for those of us experiencing it. Join us as we explore the times in our life where words don’t do justice to the experience.

Series Information

For the month of May we enjoy a special music Sunday with the theme of New Beginnings, focus on the themes of gifts and offerings, and how we can give to others in a variety of ways. On Pentecost hear the miraculous and strange story of how people were able to hear and speak in different languages, each understanding one another. We anticipate Pride Month and hear the familiar words from 1 Corinthians, “love is patient, love is kind.”
