This Lent, we’ll be looking closely at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. The best sermon ever given, it is full of meaningful and challenging words for each of us. We start this first Sunday of Lent by hearing Jesus tell his disciples they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. They exist in order to bring flavor and life to others. We do not exist for our own benefit, but for the benefit of God’s creation. What does it mean for us to be salt and light in our present time? Where can we use our own gifts and blessings for the sake of others?
