Do you love me?

Series: Questions of a Risen Jesus

April 23, 2023 | Rev. Brooke Heerwald Steiner

This week's scripture takes a good look at Peter. He is flawed in so many ways, and yet is faithful in so many ways. Jesus asks him the same question three times in a row—do you love me? Each time he asks it, he is asking Peter to do something in response to that love—to feed Jesus' sheep. To care for others. Jesus asks the same question of us—do you love me? If so, then you will tend to my sheep. You will love them and feed them, care for them and protect them. No wonder Jesus needs to ask that question three times—we need to ask it of ourselves daily, and respond to it daily.

Series Information

Throughout Lent, we examined different questions that arose in encounters with Jesus. This week and next, we'll examine two of the questions that Jesus himself asked after he was resurrected.
