Bold Women: Hagar

Series: BOLD: 5 Female Leaders in the Old Testament

July 23, 2023 | Rev. Brooke Heerwald Steiner

The story of Hagar is both awful and amazing at the same time. Pretty awful things happen to Hagar, and it can be quite difficult to work out what God’s role was in all of it. Hagar was a slave without power bringing a child into this world, none of which was her choice. Hagar is also the only person in the whole Bible to name God. This week as we wrestle with this text together to figure out what her story means for us.
