Series: Our Money Story
October 18, 2026 | Rev. Brooke Heerwald Steiner
This week's scripture is one of the most challenging. A man asks Jesus what he must do to earn eternal life, having already lived by the commandments. Jesus tells him to sell all his possessions and give to the poor. The man walks away "saddened." Well of course he does! So would we if we were honestly expected to do this. Yet Jesus knew it was important to practice letting go of things, ideas, beliefs, or practices that held us back from faithful living and community connection. This week we continue our stewardship series and look inward to see what we might individually and collectively need to let go of. I hope you join the conversation with us, either online or in-person.

Series Information

We all have a money story, one shaped by our experiences, fears, hopes, and faith. Sometimes those stories tell us there is not enough, that our actions will not make a difference, or that we should limit what we imagine is possible for our church and community. But God invites us into a different story: one rooted in abundance rather than scarcity, generosity rather than fear, and hope rather than uncertainty.
