Social Justice
Working for Justice
A main priority for our faith community is to make sure that we work towards justice in our community, state, nation and world. Our Social Justice Ministry aims to educate, listen, and act to eliminate injustice and oppression. We do this through providing resources and opportunities to learn, hosting events and discussions, sharing action tips for our congregation, and partnering with others who are already doing important work.
Subcommittees of the team focus on these five areas:
- Anti-racism
- Climate Justice
- Democracy
- Health Care
- Inclusion and Reconciling Ministries
The Social Justice Team holds "Conversations That Matter" to inform our congregation about important issues like systemic racial injustice and health care inequity. In order to reduce the church's carbon footprint, we led efforts to increase recycling and composting of waste and to add solar panels to the church roof.
